SARGE LINTECUM
AND HIS VIETNAM BLUES
Comments from Educators about Sarge Lintecum
"I can
not tell you what an impact...Sarge had in my classroom. (His) creativity,
energy, and enthusiasm were as much a presence here in Houston as (his) video
image, and the kids were entranced. Who could be a better role-model poet
for 13 year-old boys than a super-cool paratrooper like Sarge? In addition
to being very interesting personally, Sarge writes poems about topics (like
skateboarding) that are relevant to kids' lives." Laurie Orman, Language
Arts Faculty, Educational Management Group, Scottsdale, Arizona
"(Sarge),
again, I am in awe of your contributions. I know the students... benefited
greatly from being able to speak to you and hear your perspectives." Patrick

" Dear
Mr. Lintecum, ...thank you for interacting with my students for Haiku and
Cinquain poetry. ...the students really learned a lot from you and were inspired
to write some of their own poetry. Thank you for giving...your time for the
enrichment of our students." Bridget Binstock, Language Arts Faculty, Educational
Management Group, Scottsdale, Arizona
"Sarge,
thanks again for your very honest presentation about war -- specifically
Viet Nam. The presentation was very well received by our students. ...the
students were still talking about it a few days later in class. It also helped
to open up some avenues of communication between some of our students and
their fathers and grandfathers. You did a great job of getting the information
across to our students while also keeping their undivided attention through
your music and your performance. Also, your willingness to answer the students'
questions demonstrated respect. The students were truly touched by your
presentation." Betty Matwick, Educator, Pinnacle High School, Mesa, Arizona
